Dangers from Dialysis Products

Dangerous Dialysis Products:

Use of the Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) dialysis products, GranuFlo and NaturaLyte has been linked to a six-fold increase in the risk of cardiopulmonary arrest and sudden cardiac death.  Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) was aware of the potential for injury and dangers associated with their dialysis products, but failed to warn dialysis patients and doctors until 2012.  The result placed more than one-half of all hemodialysis patients in the United States at risk and set the stage for GranuFlo dialysis lawsuits.

Important Fact to Know and Share about Fresenius Medical Care:

  • In order to maintain their market share, Fresenius Medical Care made the decision to obscure information that could protect dialysis patients.
  • The slow response of Fresenius Medical Care placed more hemodialysis patients at risk, even though all of the evidence was clear that high pre-dialysis serum bicarbonate levels created a risk of cardiac arrest and deaths.
  • Despite safety issues and potential GranuFlo lawsuits, Fresenius Medical Care continued to aggressively market the products.

Common GranuFlo Side Effects Include:

  • Cardiac arrhythmia.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Low blood oxygen.
  • Low blood potassium.
  • Too much carbon dioxide in the blood.

These are not particularly dangerous medical conditions but, if left untreated, they may lead to more dangerous and possibly fatal conditions such as:

  • Stroke.
  • Heart attacks.
  • Sudden death.
  • Cardiovascular problems.

Some of these cases are conspicuous with kidney failure, and may have occurred as a result of other medical issues unrelated to GranuFlo use.  Make sure to consult with your doctor and an attorney before filing a claim.  If you are able to ascertain that you were affected by GranuFlo use, then it is your right to seek compensation as most of the medical problems add financial and emotional burdens to your family.
