The drug Xarelto is an anticoagulant that has emerged as a popular option for medically treating patients at risk for blood clots, thrombosis or a stroke. It was popular because, unlike anticoagulants like Warfarin, routine monitoring was unnecessary.
In March 2013, the FDA turned down the drug as a potential method by which to treat against the risk of heart attack because of the potential for internal bleeding. There is no such clotting factor for the dangerous drug Xarelto.
