Xarelto: A dangerous medication

On Behalf of | Nov 16, 2015 | Xarelto

Tell me more about Xarelto:

The prescription medication Xarelto is an anticoagulant co-marketing by Bayer and Johnson and Johnson that received approval from the FDA in 2011. It belongs to a class of blood thinners known as direct Xa inhibitors. Xarelto has three primary intended uses:

  • To minimize the risk of blood clots and stroke in patients
  • To treat deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism
  • To minimize the risk of blood clots in patients undergoing joint replacement surgery

It is important to note that the medication does not have a known method by which to treat a bleeding emergency.

Please explain the side effects:

Despite the list of positive uses for the medication, it has been linked to potentially fatal side effects, including:

  • Stroke
  • Hematoma
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Hemoglobin deficiencies
  • Gastrointestinal hemorrhage
  • A blockage in the lung’s main artery

Concerns about the medication:

Medical professionals have expressed concern that Xarelto might increase the risk of potentially fatal bleeding events, cerebrovascular accidents and blood clots. The risk factor increases exponentially in patients suffering from kidney failure.

If you have experienced uncontrollable bleeding, or if a family member lost his or her life due to the side effects caused by Xarelto we will be able to help. Please contact the office of Frank Charles Miranda for a free case evaluation.
